Eaton Senior Communities Foundation

Currently, Eaton serves over 225 residents. The average age of a resident is 75, and the average income is only $18,228 per year. Approximately 30% of residents require assistance with at least one activity of daily living (bathing, eating, etc.). Approximately 98% of residents live alone, and approximately 8% of residents are Veterans. Some residents were previously unhoused and able to utilize the resources available through Eaton to gain or reestablish access to medical and wellness benefits, and more. The average stay in the HUD-subsidized building is four years, and ten residents have been here longer than twelve years! Eaton's residents give back to the community through volunteer efforts, including painting art murals that beautify the Lakewood community, participating in school supply drives, and more. Each chooses to give back in a way that gives them a sense of meaning and purpose.

Eaton’s team of a resident service coordinator and wellness director allows for direct connection with the residents through a voluntary interview tool conducted upon move-in and annually thereafter. This tool, REACH (Residents Engaging in Authentic Conversations on Health), is an avenue for getting to know the resident's health and wellness needs, which in turn, assists us in developing community partnerships to bring on-site to meet those needs. Eaton’s Resident Services Coordinator and Director of Wellness Initiatives were bestowed the inaugural 2017 Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Award for Health Equity.
