Since its inception in 1973, Ebony House, Inc. has provided effective quality behavioral health programming in the community. It is the only residential Substance Abuse treatment facility in Arizona that consistently targets African Americans. The organization was founded by three recovering alcoholics, Elbertzena Fontenot, C.T. Wallace, and James Johnson.
Today, Ebony House is an Arizona based non-profit 501 (c) (3) organization that for the last 49 years has dedicated to helping restore adults, children and families from all race and ethnic backgrounds triumph over substance abuse, behavioral challenges, HIV/AIDS, child abuse and preservation of the family. Through innovative programs and comprehensive services, it is our mission to provide an individualized service to each of our consumers and assist them with gaining a sense of dignity and self-respect; with positive goals in place to improve our community.
We employ over 50 full-time staff and an additional workforce available from part-time positions and contractors. Our staff and Board of Directors reflect the cultural diversity of the community and is comprised of various race/ethnic minorities and women reflecting the communities we serve.
Our service locales include the greater Phoenix Metropolitan area, Maricopa County, and many other counties within the State of Arizona providing the following programs:
