Edinboro Legion Pool, Inc.

       In 2006, the Edinboro Community
Pool was going to discontinue operations, but the Edinboro American Legion Post
439 stepped up and took over the pool’s operations.  From the beginning, the goal was to provide a
welcoming, safe aquatic environment for families, children, and adults of all
ages.  To better reach this goal, the Edinboro
American Legion established the Edinboro Legion Pool as a 501c3 to run the
daily operations.  The Edinboro Legion Pool
continues to work at achieving the goal of offering a safe aquatic environment
to the local communities and visitors to the area.  As part of this support, the local YMCA utilizes
the pool to provide water aerobics for the senior citizens in the area and swim
lessons for local children. 

        Through the generous support of the
community, our members, volunteers, local businesses, and other organizations, we
have been able to meet our goals and improve the facilities with several
additions and numerous updates.  The
community’s generosity enabled us to add an ADA compliant chair lift and ADA
compliant bathroom stalls, a water slide and a climbing wall.  While adding new items to improve our users’
experience, we also updated the systems that support the functioning of the
pool.  A new furnace, chemical control
units, water pumps and filters have helped maintain a fully functional pool
that keeps the water safe and clean.  Providing
a welcoming environment means we need to have plenty of seating for our patrons
to rest and eat when not in the pool. 
Thus, we are continually replacing chairs and tables. In addition to
tables and chairs, offering food to our patrons allows them to enjoy a full day
of fun.  Keeping our food safe for
consumption requires us to upgrade and replace freezers, grills and other
cooking equipment.  These additions and
upgrades enable us to provide swimming opportunities to over 8,500 patrons
during the summer months.  Our patrons
come mostly from throughout the communities in Erie and Crawford counties with
some visiting us from other regions in Pennsylvania, Ohio and New York.
