Epilepsy Foundation of Greater Southern Illinois

A nonprofit organization

HERE'S HOW WE HELP
Since 1977, the Epilepsy Foundation of Greater Southern Illinois (EFGSI) has been providing a full spectrum of comprehensive services for people whose lives have been affected by epilepsy.

EPILEPSY FOUNDATION
EFGSI provides a full range of informational and educational literature on epilepsy. These materials are available to any organization or member of the community. A comprehensive list of books and videos are available in our library. As a member of the Epilepsy Foundation of America, EFGSI has instant access to the world's largest epilepsy data base.

EPILEPSY SERVICE COORDINATION, SUPPORT SERVICES AND ADVOCACY
EFGSI professionals will answer your questions and make appropriate referrals to health care providers. For individuals with a higher level of needs, EFGSI offers case management services on an ongoing basis as long as services are necessary. We provide opportunities for shared experiences in peer support groups led by EFGSI professional staff. EFGSI also provides emergency medication funding to those individuals that need financial assistance.

EFGSI also serves as an advocate for people with epilepsy. If an individual needs assistance with a school, employer, insurance company or any community issues, we're here to help!

EPILEPSY RESIDENTIAL PROGRAM
Our Community Integrated Living Arrangement (CILA) program provides 24-hour supervision for individuals who require help with daily living skills. This program is available to people with seizure disorders, as well as those with developmental disabilities. EFGSI also supports individuals who do not need around-the-clock supervision.

EPILEPSY COMMUNITY EDUCATION
Providing accurate, factual information about epilepsy is the key to reducing misunderstanding and prejudice. EFGSI uses various methods to educate the public. These include making presentations to a variety of audiences, publishing our newsletter, and training on first aid for seizures.

CHILDREN'S SUMMER CAMP
EFGSI is proud to sponsor Camp Roehr, a residential summer camp which offers children with epilepsy the opportunity for a fun-filled, memorable week away from home. With professional staff, qualified counselors and medical support personnel, the children are able to make new friends and have a great time in a safe, supportive environment with a 1:1 ratio.

PEDIATRIC SEIZURE CLINIC
We provide free or low cost neurological evaluations by appointment at our Mount Vernon office to clients up to age 18 who have a possible or diagnosed seizure disorder. We accept referrals from physicians, social service agencies, school personnel, and family members.
