Eisenhower Valley Parks Collaborative

A nonprofit organization

While the Eisenhower Valley contains one of the most active pockets of development in Alexandria, it also provides incredible recreation and green space opportunities with Lake Cook, Cameron Run Regional Park, and the Holmes Run Trail.

Founded in 2023 in connection with a Community Matching Funds grant from the City of Alexandria, the Eisenhower Valley Parks Collaborative led a two-day tree planting event around Lake Cook and the Cameron Run Regional Park with the help of community members, RPCA staff, and the Tree Stewards of Arlington and Alexandria. Since then, the Eisenhower Valley Parks Collaborative's mission focuses on enhancing the community by leading volunteer investments in local parks and open space through events like tree plantings, maintenance and watering of existing trees, and trash cleanup efforts around Lake Cook.

We maintain a light budget that allows us to run a website, buy some tools and supplies like work gloves, and carry basic insurance that makes it possible to organize our dedicate and energic groups of volunteers. This is our first year participating in Spring2Action and very excited! To date, the organization has largely been run and funding by a handful of community members trying keep up our momentum from the initial tree planting event in 2023. Our fundraising goal of $1,000 was set a target to help the organization cover insurance, website, and basic admin costs going forward so we can continue to support these valuable volunteer opportunities in the future.
