The Environmental Law Alliance Worldwide (ELAW) helps communities speak out for clean air, clean water, and a healthy planet. We are a global alliance of attorneys, scientists and other advocates collaborating across borders to promote grassroots efforts to build a sustainable, just future.

Description

The Environmental Law Alliance Worldwide (ELAW) is a network of public interest environmental advocates collaborating across borders to secure climate justice and defend human rights in 85 countries around the world.

At ELAW, we believe that people speaking out for their communities and local ecosystems hold the key to building a greener future. That's why we work with grassroots advocates who are helping communities speak out. By giving our partners around the world the legal and scientific support they need, ELAW helps challenge environmental abuses and builds a worldwide corps of skilled, committed advocates working to protect ecosystems and communities for generations to come.

The ELAW network has proven powerful. ELAW's work is high impact and low cost.

Public interest lawyers from 10 countries founded ELAW in 1989. This year, advocates will call on the ELAW network for assistance with more than 400 projects! ELAW partners are fighting for climate justice, keeping coal in the ground, advocating for indigenous land rights, conserving coral reefs, educating communities, and much more.

Every day, as we collaborate with local advocates around the world, we are reminded that people of all nations share a commitment to protecting the environment. The ELAW network demonstrates that people can set aside their differences and work together toward a common goal: an environmentally sustainable future.
