Mission

eliseo (formerly Tacoma Lutheran Retirement Home) is a not-for-profit Life Plan Community, home to over 300 residents and nestled on a park-like 28-acre campus near the Puget Sound. Our MISSION is to engage lives through active living, compassion and dignity. Our VISION is to advance and enrich the lives of our residents, continuously adapting to a changing world while cultivating a community founded on the principles of selfless service. 

Description

In 2021, eliseo provided $2.2 million in uncompensated care to needy seniors. In our more than 80 year history, we have never asked a resident to leave due to inability to pay. With the continued rising costs of medical care, and the increased service to those on Medicaid, our commitment to our residents has never been so important. Last year, the eliseo foundation provided more than $89,000 to support the operations of eliseo and the Touch of Care (resident need) program as well as awarded 11 Employee Scholarships to eliseo staff.

WHO WE ARE

The eliseo foundation is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit corporation organized exclusively for the benefit of eliseo. Governed by a volunteer board, the foundation was established in 1986 for the purpose of raising funds for the eliseo community and its residents. For more than 30 years, the foundation has been instrumental in securing gifts for the development and expansion of facilities, the purchase of new equipment and support for valuable programs and services all with the intent to make life better for residents. 

WHAT WE DO

Since eliseo first opened its doors in 1938, the pursuit to offer quality health care and life plan options has remained at the forefront for the Board of Trustees and eliseo leadership team. We are a senior community where residents find kinship, fun and belonging. We are the only not-for-profit campus in Tacoma that participates in Medicare and Medicaid, while still offering a full spectrum of quality care and services at an affordable price. Over 70% of our Health Center residents have outlived their savings and rely on eliseo and Medicaid for their daily needs.
