Empower House SA

Empower House was founded in 1999 with a mission to improve reproductive health services and access for women, primarily brown and Black women on the East Side of San Antonio. Since then, we've expanded to provide community health services and education, advocacy opportunities, and youth programming, all through the lens of restorative justice.

We've also grown to include three locations, two on the Eastside and one on the Westside of San Antonio, creating a closer connection to the communities we serve. To date, Empower House programming has served thousands of individuals in San Antonio and impacted future generations of families.

Who We Are

The Martinez Street Women’s Center provides community health services, youth development programs, and advocacy opportunities that are transformative and empowering for women and girls of color. We envision a world where all women and girls are empowered to transform themselves, their families, and their communities.

We were founded in 1999 by a group of 10 women who were interested in providing health and educational opportunities for women and girls on the East Side of San Antonio, and we’ve been serving our community with that goal ever since.

MSWC focuses on women and girls on the Southeast, West, and East sides of San Antonio. Each of our programs is led by a team of a diverse, well-trained, and incredibly passionate group of individuals. The programs are implemented by full-time staff members, part-time educators, volunteers, interns, and high school mentors. We serve 3,500 individuals annually in both of our programs.
