EQUALITY TEXAS

For over 30 years, Equality Texas has worked to secure LGBTQ+ equality in the hearts and minds of all Texans and in all areas of the law. Equality Texas guides activists through their advocacy journey, providing the issue and skills education necessary to confidently exercise their individual and collective power to protect and advance LGBTQ+ rights in Texas.

When we began organizing over three decades ago, we blocked attempts to quarantine people with AIDS. Since then, our issues have evolved, but our unwavering commitment to protect and expand the rights of LGBTQ+ people in Texas has not. 

WHAT’S NEXT 

Texas is one of 27 states without LGBTQ+ inclusive comprehensive nondiscrimination protections. LGBTQ+ Texans lack basic legal protections that leave us vulnerable to discrimination in employment, public accommodations, education, credit, and housing. Although we celebrate recent victories, there is still work to be done. Equality Texas will continue to fight until there are statewide protections for all LGBTQ+ people. Here’s how you can help:
