The Everhart Museum was established in Scranton’s Nay Aug Park in 1908 by Isaiah Fawkes Everhart. The initial collection consisted of Everhart’s own specimens of the state’s native birds, mammals, and other wildlife. Throughout the 20th century, the Museum’s focus expanded to encompass local, regional, and global art and cultural artifacts. Much of the collection documents and preserves Northeastern Pennsylvania’s unique cultural and natural heritage.

For over a century, the Everhart has enriched, inspired, and educated generations of people throughout the region and beyond. In addition to caring for and exhibiting the collections, the Museum provides educational and interpretive programs for all ages. With a multidisciplinary and inclusive approach, the Everhart creates extraordinary experiences, stimulating learning, creative expression, and active engagement in the arts and sciences. Throughout the year, the Museum hosts a wide range of special events, from free community days to fun and unique fundraisers.

We believe in the power of the Everhart Museum to spark the imagination, challenge thought and provide enjoyment. Through our collections, exhibitions, and programs, we strive to integrate natural history, science, and art into the lives of people.
