Farming New Orleans

A nonprofit organization

Farming New Orleans is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization whose mission is to promote the cultivation of gardens and groves as vehicles for education, building community, providing fresh produce to underserved neighborhoods and promoting entrepreneurship in New Orleans.

Established in 2015, FNO has acquired 5 lots in the Lower 9th Ward and Upper Desire/Florida neighborhoods and has built community gardens and orchards on these properties. We have been funded by private donations and all work has been done by volunteers and neighbors.

Testimonials

A few weeks ago, I worked at the Desire Street FNO community garden. It was not only a great experience, but it provides me with a great sense of purpose and community to be able to help a community garden. I really enjoyed delivering all the fresh fruits and vegetables to the folks at the Levee Food Pantry and also filling the community fridges in the neighborhood with food for the neighbors in need.
