Description

Good golfers, and even better people!

Since 2003, First Tee Greater Seattle has worked to impact the lives of young people by promoting character-development and teaching life skills and core values through the game of golf. Through First Tee's Life Skills Curriculum, the program uses golf as a platform to provide character education to kids ages 5 to 18 years old. Weekly classes to more than 2,000 young people annually are designed to emphasize the importance of values like honesty, integrity, perseverance, confidence, and respect. In addition, First Tee Greater Seattle now brings its proven character education curriculum to more than 100,000 students at more than 200 public and parochial schools annually.

The work of First Tee is to equip kids with the strong character that will pave the way for their leadership in the community throughout their lives. First Tee is engaging kids in a conversation about their decision making skills, dreams and goals, and their ability to manage emotions through a game that doesn't just ask them to learn about character but demands they grapple with it through the individual challenges the game provides. As a result of our work, we hope children define themselves, their aspirations, and their achievements by a new criterion: their moral fiber.
