Friends of Bayou St. John

A nonprofit organization

Friends of Bayou St. John is a A 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that promotes the preservation of a healthy, sustainable Bayou St John for all, through ecological, cultural and community-based programming.

Bayou St. John connects many communities in New Orleans, and it traces a path through the city's history. Friends of Bayou St. John connects people to this unique natural and cultural resource. The Bayou Boogaloo, founded in 2006 to support local artists and businesses after Hurricane Katrina, is the signature event of Friends of Bayou St. John. It has grown into a vibrant celebration that unites the city while promoting community engagement, local initiatives, and the importance of arts, culture, and recreation in New Orleans' development.

But we are more than just Bayou Boogaloo! We support the Bayou and our community year round through litter and invasive species cleanups, environmental education events and community celebrations! Help us love the Bayou all year long by coming out to support us this GIVENOLA Day, for our 3rd annual Crawfish Eating Contest and Boil!
