Help Open the Gate to Texas’ Only BLM Land

We invite you to be part of something truly transformative — a project that will open the door to 12,000 acres of wild, public land in the Texas Panhandle.

Friends of Cross Bar is leading the effort to build safe, reliable access to the Cross Bar Special Recreation Management Area (SRMA) — the only Bureau of Land Management land in Texas. In a state where just 3% of land is public, the Cross Bar is an irreplaceable resource waiting to be explored.

We are in the midst of a $12 million, four-year project to create access to this incredible landscape. The easement is secured, and we’ve been awarded $8 million through the Federal Lands Access Program (FLAP) and $2 million in Community Project Funding. With 78% of the match already raised, your support can help us complete the local share needed to unlock these funds and begin construction in the next few years.

Once open, the Cross Bar is expected to draw over 250,000 visitors each year and contribute $13 million annually to our local economy. More importantly, it will offer unmatched opportunities for hiking, hunting, mountain biking, horseback riding, and outdoor education — connecting people to the land and to each other.

Your donation today helps us finish the road to Texas’ only BLM land — ensuring this remarkable place is accessible, protected, and enjoyed for generations to come.

Give through The Panhandle Gives and be part of opening the Cross Bar for everyone.
