Friends of the Animals - Greater Hampton Roads

Friends of the Animals - Greater Hampton Roads is a small, independent, 501(c)(3), all-volunteer organization that desires to make a difference in the lives of the animals that are in (or may come into) the custody and care of municipal animal shelters in the Greater Hampton Roads region (Coastal Virginia and Northeastern North Carolina), especially those animals with medical needs that are potential barriers to adoption (e.g., heartworms that are not treated by the municipal shelter).   In pursuit of our mission, we provide vouchers to some of the municipal shelters in the region by which we commit to assisting the shelter (or adopters, as the case may be) with up to $650/dog in heartworm treatment costs; contribute funds to assist municipal shelters and municipal-contracted rescues/shelters in the region with heartworm treatment and other medical expenses; designate funds to help (to the extent that our allocated funds allow us to do so) rescues and sanctuaries afford (at least in part) non-routine, medical care (e.g., heartworm treatment, specialist care, FHO surgery or amputations, etc.) for animals that they have agreed to accept transfer of from municipal animal shelters in the region; and provide requested supplies to municipal shelters.  The funds raised via GiveLocal757 will be applied towards our heartworm vouchers program.
