We present an annual program of both military and civilian life that depicts what was occurring in the area on both sides of the invasion. We strive to raise the awareness of this international event, its effect on the local area, and the aftershocks we still feel today through the use of structured programs and historic re-enactments. A large part of our presentation is displaying the events of the December 1814/January 1815 campaign are through demonstrations with living history re-enactors, discussing the events to school groups and the general public. Our past events have attracted over 2,000 visitors and school children over our short weekend. Join us on January 7 & 8, 2022 at the 40 Arpent Canal Wetlands Observatory in Chalmette, LA for our next anniversary weekend!
For 2021, we're trying to add to our "physical" presence through the purchase of period-correct tents. A large number of our participants are wide spread across the North American continent. To reduce the burden on participants, and add to the encampments our visitors see, we're going to purchase three tents that are exact replicas of ones used here during the Campaign in 1814/15. These tents will be used to house participants while here during our events. An additional benefit will give more visual details to our site, and immerse guests further into life during the period.
