Friends of Long Beach Animals

Friends of Long Beach Animals, formerly established as Friends of Long Beach Animal Shelter is a nonprofit organization dedicated to responsible pet ownership, education and humane treatment of all animals.

FOLBA has been helping animals in the Long Beach and Signal Hill communities for over 30 years and is committed to reducing the population of shelter animals and pet surrenders.

One of our main focuses is on Humane Education. FOLBA believes that if we can educate and teach the public, especially our youth, we can eventually end pet overpopulation and cruelty to animals.

For this we have been teaching kids in schools for years and now offer:

-Community Outreach Program through our very own PAWZ TV, an online television program designed to increase awareness of the organization and the needs and care of our local animals.

-We feature a series of online Community Outreach Educational Videos that provide a socially distant & safe experience and program for teachers to use in local schools.

- We're ready to bring our program back in person to LBUSD schools as soon as it is safe to do so.

FOLBA also expanded its spay/neuter program and joined forces with local clinics and rescues to provide community members with access to low-cost programs including free vaccines, microchips, sponsored adoption fees and more.

We also fund and help injured or sick animals in our community under special circumstances. We have provided life saving surgeries to dozens of animals in need.

Friends of Long Beach Animals strives to live up to its name. FOLBA is an all-volunteer organization run by a dedicated team of Executive Board Members. The Board is currently exploring opportunities to evolve FOLBA's mission and create a niche program (e.g. "street medicine") to better support the Long Beach pet owner community and prevent shelter surrenders while emphasizing FOLBA's community efforts on a grander scale.
