Champions of the Planet

A nonprofit organization

Champions of the Planet is focused on informing individuals and families about the climate crisis and provide them with simple strategies that they can implement in their daily lives.

We're seeing the world up close - and it's not a pretty picture.

Dear friends and "Champions" of the planet,

It's been an "interesting" year since we all met at the inaugural year of Earth Gives Day on October 7, 2021. Here we are again, a year later. Sadly, very little has changed in terms of meaningful action; just more rhetoric and "kicking the can down the road".

It's up to us, at the "hand's on, grass roots" level to energize one another, organizations and governments to take meaningful action. "Small acts, when multiplied by millions of people, can transform the world." Big acts? Well, even better.

I spent over three months in the high arctic to observe, first hand, what global warming is doing to that pristine roof of the planet.
It was "unseasonably" warm. The ice was so "thin" that our "polar class" icebreaker wasn't challenged at all. Polar Bears that traditionally stay further south where food is plentiful, were found at the pole itself, searching for seals and trying to survive.

Our commitment for the year ahead is to broaden our reach to carry our message and "tools" as far as possible - our small acts, our stories, together will multiply. Join us.

Help us spread small act messages far and wide. Volunteers welcome. We need more Champions of the Planet.

Testimonials

Founder of Champions of the Planet, and inaugural Earth Gives board member, was awarded the 2021 Earth Champion Award. Playing such an integral role in the start of Earth Gives Day, the board agreed to name the award after him. While George has been honored with many awards, the Earth Gives leadership wanted to add to the ways this great explorer and champion of the world has been celebrated.

"George was critical to the development of this special giving day - both from a leadership perspective and in the recruitment of amazing nonprofit organizations and investors from across the country. He will forever have his fingerprints on this initiative. He is a true champion of the planet." - Rhonda Bannard, executive director, Earth Gives
