Our Story: Fuller Hose Company #1 – Est. 1885

For 140 years, Fuller Hose Company #1 has stood as a symbol of dedication, courage, and community in North East, PA. Founded in 1885, our all-volunteer fire company has evolved from bucket brigades and horse-drawn hose carts to a modern emergency response team serving with pride and purpose.

Our founder, Ezra Fuller, donated $100 to construct our first hand-drawn hose cart — a gift so vital that the company was named in his honor. That original cart is proudly on display at the North East Museum on Vine Street in historic downtown North East.

We are more than a firehouse — we are neighbors helping neighbors, mentors shaping young leaders, and guardians of North East’s safety and history.

This Erie Gives Day, we ask you to help us continue that legacy. Your support directly fuels our mission and our future — including a critical building expansion, the largest in over two decades.

Whether it’s $18.85 in honor of our founding year or $140 to mark our anniversary, every gift helps us stay ready for the next call.

Let’s keep North East safe, strong, and moving forward — together.
