Our mission is to advance healthy air & environmental justice in the greater-Birmingham area through education, advocacy, and collaboration. We envision a healthy, just, and sustainable Alabama for everyone who lives, works, learns, and worships here. We strive to reduce air pollution, to educate the public on the health risks associated with poor air quality and to encourage community leaders to serve as role models for clean air and clean energy development.

Fighting air pollution is our raison d'être. We educate the public about the harmful health effects of pollution and provide tools to make healthy choices. We deploy and maintain community air monitors that track pollution in frontline neighborhoods, giving residents data they can trust. We also use the power of the law to strengthen regulations, pollution permits, and enforcement. Our aim is simple: healthier air for everyone-no matter their zip code, race, or income. We offer presentations to community groups, clubs, churches, and other gatherings.

Climate change is one of the most urgent issues of our time. Already its effects are being felt, particularly among the most vulnerable. We equip people to become advocates for clean, renewable energy in Alabama.

Environmental justice is at our core because communities of color and low-income neighborhoods are disproportionately impacted. Birmingham's growth on iron and steel brought decades of pollution, compounded by segregation and redlining. Generations were sacrificed to contamination. We work to protect everyone's right to breathe clean, healthy air and to participate in decisions that affect their environment.
