Gateway Housing First

A nonprofit organization

Gateway Housing First was founded in 2013 in response to a well-documented, pressing unmet need for permanent, affordable supported housing for individuals and families affected by a wide range of disabilities, complex disorders and life situations who need supports and accommodations to secure and maintain housing.

Guided by the values and outcomes achieved by Housing First and Harm Reduction programs, GHF increases housing solutions for our neighbors who struggle most and
eliminates "housing readiness" barriers to expedite homecomings.

GHF housing communities are ever-mindful of the healing benefits of a supportive community. We know from experience that many of our tenants have felt isolated, lonely and hopeless. Being a part of a supportive community that sends a message of compassion and hope is perhaps the most powerful tool in recovery. Fostering and encouraging the organic development of neighborly support is as much the foundation of our housing communities as the brick and mortar foundations themselves.

We have grown our housing inventory to 210 units across 11 unique supported housing communities and secured tenant-based rental assistance contracts that allow us to serve approximately 100 households leasing from third party landlords at any given time. We have also raised funding through direct giving and grants to provide our tenants housing stability focused case management supports and linkages to community partners providing long-term case management supports and specialized treatment and recovery services. Though nearly all of those engaged in GHF housing programs since 2015 have a history of homelessness and most were chronically homeless, at east 98% have remained housed.
