Gateway Rehab

A nonprofit organization

Gateway Rehab's mission is to help all those affected by addictive diseases to be healthy in body, mind and spirit. The individual is recognized not only as a being of uniqueness, dignity, and worth, but also as one with the capacity for personal growth, responsibility, self-determination, and health. Gateway views addiction as a primary illness rather than as a symptom of any other issue. Addiction is treatable, and recovery is possible.

In 1972, Rabbi Dr. Abraham Twerski opened the doors of Gateway Rehab, and with that, provided the opportunity of recovery from addiction to thousands of individuals and families every year since. Gateway Rehab, celebrating 50 years of service, is the region's largest nonprofit addiction treatment network. We believe every life carries an inherent value and it is our hope that patients feel our compassion and our commitment to their recovery in all that we do. By prioritizing access to care, we help others to achieve and sustain long-term wellness. Similarly, we accept patients regardless of the type of health insurance coverage, or lack thereof, they hold.

Throughout the Greater Pittsburgh region, Gateway Rehab offers a full continuum of care to meet our mission, including withdrawal management, short and long-term inpatient treatment, extended residential care, transitional housing, in-person and telehealth outpatient counseling, peer-to-peer recovery support and care coordination, and family programming. There are barriers we know to be common for someone in early recovery, which can strongly challenge someone's progress and increase risk of relapse. Examples of these barriers include:
- A lack of basic clothing and hygiene needs while in residential treatment
- Transportation access to engage in outpatient counseling, attend recovery meetings, gain employment, and other recovery-supportive activities
- Resources to afford the initial costs of recovery-supportive housing after completing treatment.

Alternatively, we know that helping to provide these basic necessities to those in need prolongs engagement in treatment, supports long-term success, and ultimately gives someone the chance they deserve to put those barriers behind them and start to build a life in recovery. These are the critical needs we are hoping to raise funds for through this opportunity. We are so appreciative of everyone's support!
