Gemini Theater Company produces a six-show season every year. Shows consist of original, adapted musicals that are geared for children and families. All shows are interactive and are adapted from classic children's stories or are original scripts. All music is written and composed by Lani Cataldi, co-founder of the Gemini Theater Company. Season Productions consist of both adult and student actors, all of who are cast from auditions. Student actors are taught through the rehearsal process the etiquette and responsibility of the professional actor. They attend all rehearsals and perform in every performance. Adult actors are contracted and paid a stipend on completion of their contract. A regular season will play to approximately 8,000 - 11,000 patrons in a year. Ticket prices are currently $5-$10 per ticket, and are available through online ticketing services and through our box office. All sets, costumes, props, etc. are built on-site and maintained to keep costs at a minimum.
Gemini Theater offers year-round Educational Outreach Programs which allow schools, summer programs, private organizations, and other community groups the opportunity to participate in a special interactive show and theater workshop or customize a theater workshop programs as part of school/camp curriculum. Outreach performances are seen by approximately 4,000 students each year, with another 500 students participating in special theater workshops. This programs has grown from approximately 45 bookings per year to over 80 booked programs a year, including theater workshops. This growth is partially funded by generous donors including PNC Charitable Trusts, Duquesne University, and Paige's Promise, allowing students to participate with 50 - 100% assistance.
Summer Theater Camps are available June - August, and allow campers the opportunity to write, rehearse, and perform and original show each camp week. Since 2003, Gemini Theater has offered 9 to 10 weeks of summer camps, providing a unique theater opportunity to over 175 children per summer. Over 20% of our campers attend as part of our Tuition Assistance Program, which is funded by Paige's Promise and Kenny's Club. In 2016, we saw an increase in students on the Autism Spectrum (avg 1 student/week), all of whom were referred to us for our inclusive, stress-free learning environment.
Acting Classes are offered September through April on Saturday mornings and after-school. This program began in 2008 and has grown from 1 or 2 classes per semester to 8 - 10 per semester. Tuition Assistance is available to all families who apply and is currently seeking an outside source of funding to help families in financial need. Many of our students have used our classes and teachers as means of improving audition skills, adapting to social interactions, and preparing for auditions to schools such as CAPA and Lincoln Park Performing Arts Center. 90% of Gemini Acting Class students who audition for shows, special programs, and school admissions (secondary and university) are accepted/offered spots.

Testimonials

"Not sure who maintains your email account, but I just felt moved to tell "someone" that what you do for children is nothing short of AMAZING. My granddaughter LOVES your plays more than anywhere else we go. She especially likes the "interaction". She is forever asking me "when is the next play?". Today's performance of the Wizard of Oz was EXCELLENT (especially the witch!) Please tell your cast what a wonderful job they did and how much it is appreciated by the audience.
Thank you so much!"

"I don't know how to thank you enough for the wonderful experience our daughter, Evelyn had at summer camp. She would come home every day, just bursting with energy and excited about all of the fun things she did. Seeing her on stage was so exciting, and it fulfilled a dream she had since she saw her first Gemini production, The Little Mermaid. Acting was not something that even crossed our minds to pursue for her, but she is always "writing" her own little plays for her friends and her dolls, so we thought we should look into it.
If not for the scholarship money we were awarded, this would not have been possible. And for that, we are very grateful. We're hoping to come see some of the productions when the season starts up again in the fall, and we do hope to come back to camp next year, or maybe even a class if we can manage it...
