Girl Scouts of the Green and White Mountains is one of 112 councils chartered by Girl Scouts of the USA, the world’s leading organization dedicated solely to girls. Here in New Hampshire and Vermont we serve close to 10,000 members across both states. Our programming provides an accepting and nurturing environment where girls build character and skills for success. In partnership with committed volunteers, girls develop qualities to serve them all their lives: strong values, social conscience, environmental stewardship and conviction about their potential and self-worth.
Our Mission
Girl Scouts builds girls of courage, confidence, and character who make the world a better place.
What We Do
Through hundreds of programs offered each year, girls develop their leadership potential in activities that enable them to discover their values, their skills and interact with the world around them; girls connect with others in a multicultural environment; and they take action to make a difference. This is the Girl Scout Leadership Experience. Timely topics such as STEM subjects, adventure sports, advocacy & political science, and entrepreneurship have joined traditional program opportunities offered to girls, including leadership, outdoor skills, wildlife, the environment, travel, first aid & disaster preparedness, and water sports. The Girl Scout Cookie program is the number one financial literacy program for girls in the world where they learn money management, entrepreneurship, sales skills and marketing, goal setting, and teamwork. Every activity is girl-driven, so girls learn to make good choices and discover their potential as a leader. Community service is a vital part of our mission to “make the world a better place.” Girl Scouts across New Hampshire and Vermont participate in thousands of "Take Action" service projects every year, directly benefiting their community, their state, our country and the world.
Girl Scouting, founded in Savannah, Georgia in 1912, has developed leadership in countless girls across the country and locally in New Hampshire. As the foremost expert in girl issues, participants enhance academic performance and life skills by engaging girls in after school and seasonal programs that encourage a variety of learning opportunities including (but not limited to) science, technology, engineering, math, healthy living, fitness and financial literacy. Key focus areas and specific activities encourage girls to become better citizens, make lifelong friendships and become an active, productive participant in the world around them.
