Gliding Stars of Erie Inc

The Gliding Stars of Erie Inc is an adaptive ice skating program based in Erie Pennsylvania and serving the tristate area.  We have been actively skating at the Mercyhurst University Ice Center for all of our 25 years, This coming skating season will be our 25th anniversary year!!  The Gliding Stars of Erie accommodates skaters with varying physical, emotional or developmental disabilities ranging in age from 3 years through senior citizens.  We provide generalized adaptive equipment, skates and helmets to each skater, those skaters needing very personalized equipment generally provide their own.  Any individual wanting or needing our program is welcomed regardless of ethnicity, gender or ability to pay.  The skating season starts in mid-September and ends in early April with our annual ice skating spectacular at the Mercyhurst University Ice Center showcasing all of our Stars and volunteers in choreographed group and individual numbers set to live music or a DJ on ice.  The number of skaters we serve in a year ranges from 60 to 90, each of those skaters has a skating volunteer or two by their side at each skating session and during our end of year show...many long lasting friendships have come about during our sessions, we consider that as an added bonus!
