Greater New Orleans STEM Initiative

A nonprofit organization

To stimulate the curiosity of young minds in science, technology, engineering and math through collaboration with business, educational institutions and the greater community.

The Greater New Orleans STEM Initiative provides kindergarten through 12th grade math and science teachers with the tools and resources they need to deliver hands-on, minds-on learning opportunities in the classroom. GNOSTEM's teacher professional development programs ensure that students receive the rigorous and enriched classroom instruction they need to encourage critical thinking and ultimately foster student proficiency and interest in STEM subjects and careers.

GNO STEM's hands-on summer camps offer fun and engaging hands-on experiences in STEM- science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Campers work individually and in teams as they sharpen their critical thinking and communication skills and learn to think like scientists. Plus, campers meet and learn from STEM industry professionals who share their expertise and introduce STEM opportunities and careers in Louisiana and beyond. GNO STEM summer camp programs are led by certified teachers and supported by GNOSTEM staff, volunteers, and high school robotics team students.

GNO STEM also actively participates in community events to foster a love for STEM among students, parents, and teachers.

Testimonials

"Beginning STEM at such an early stage is crucial because it gives the older grades a building block. Where previous generations would "start" basically where these students are starting now, their foundation is going to be so much broader and greater that there is no limit to what these kids are going to be able to accomplish." Katie Boulet, Middle School Teacher
