Good Samaritan Christian Services of Dalhart was formed in 1983 by 13 people who wanted to help those in need. Today our mission is to share the Love and Gospel of Jesus Christ as we meet the physical and spiritual needs of our community by providing food to those in need. With the generosity of givers in 2023, we were able to purchase a permanent home located at 1115 East 1st Street. In 2024, with more generosity, we were able to completely pay off the building and add a new pantry that doubled the building in size. In 2025, we are now totally debt-free.
In the past year, Good Samaritan has provided food for over 4,000 people, including seniors, families, and single households. Every third Wednesday of the month we offer CSFP food boxes to qualifying seniors. (The Commodity Supplement Food Program.) In 2025, we distributed over 1100 boxes. Other services we offer are helping seniors attain medical devices, financial assistance with medications, and utilities. Food distribution hours are the first and third Monday of each month for seniors over 55 years of age. Every Thursday is for everyone else. Distribution hours are 1:00-3:00 p.m.
This year's goal is to raise $35,000, the equivalent of our annual budget. Your generous participation will help ensure that Good Samaritan Christian Services continues to shine as a beacon of compassion and faith in action in Dalhart and the surrounding area.
Every gift is an act of kindness, bringing us one step closer to our mission of serving “the least of these” (Matthew 25:40).

The Good Samaritan Christian Service, Inc. of Dalhart, Texas was formed in 1982 by a group of citizens who saw some needs in our community that could be better served by bringing partner churches together to meet those needs. This non-profit ministry has been serving the “least of these” in the Dallam-Hartley counties for over 38 years in a variety of ways. The Good Samaritan could not take care of the 200+ families they serve each month without the generosity of local churches and private donors.
The Good Samaritan serves those who need help with groceries, clothing, small household items and assist the elderly with prescription medication expenses and utility bills. The Panhandle Gives is an opportunity for the Good Samaritan to expand their ministry ability. The Good Samaritan will be able to take greater care of the elderly in our community who live on a fixed income and are unable to adequately obtain the health care they need or afford an ample amount of groceries. The Good Samaritan, and its recipients, greatly appreciates those who give and support this ministry.
