Our registration fee has historically been capped at $150 on a sliding scale basis, ensuring accessibility for all girls regardless of their families' financial circumstances. Despite the true cost per girl attending the program reaching $408 in 2023, we've never turned away any girl due to her family's inability to pay any of the fees.  We have also provided shoes and sports bras for girls who needed them to participate equitably.

However, rising costs for materials, snacks, and insurance threaten our ability to sustain this commitment. Your donation will greatly assist in keeping these costs manageable for families and safeguarding our programs, ensuring every girl can participate.

Please, help us to continue without increasing costs for families.

At Girls on the Run, we ignite girls' inner strength and encourage them to embrace their uniqueness. Our trained coaches guide small teams through engaging discussions, activities, and running games based on research. The program concludes with girls making a positive impact on their communities through a service project and feeling ready to complete a joyous 5K event, both physically and emotionally.

More About Us

Girls encounter social pressures and conflicting messages regarding their behavior and identity. Research indicates that during adolescence, girls experience a significant decline in confidence compared to boys. Friendships become more intricate, academic self-perception diminishes, and the likelihood of anxiety and depression rises while participation in physical activities declines.

However, this narrative can be changed.

At Girls on the Run, we firmly believe that every girl is brimming with power and potential. By empowering girls to recognize themselves as the leaders of their lives, we cultivate a generation of young women poised to make a positive impact and change the world.

Testimonials

"Having two girls myself, I see the importance of a program like this one, and being a coach is so much fun! I love coaching because it has made me a better person…a better mom. This program transforms everyone…not just the young participants! Get ready for an amazing ride!
--Coach Brynne

While watching one of the girls cross the finish line of the 5k, and one girl in particular who had a harder time than the others. When she crossed the line she was in tears and you could see how proud she was of herself. -Coach Erin

I chose to coach GOTR to empower young girls through a sport that I love. - Coach Cindy

I joined GOTR to encourage girls to be confident and strong and to help them unlock their potential. - Coach Sarah

My daughter can not wait to start the next season of Girls on the Run. She has really embraced her own unique personality and understands that she has something valuable to contribute. - GOTR Parent

My daughter has had a high level of social anxiety that was diagnosed when she was in 2nd grade. I am talking about even asking her a question in front of her classmates was enough to trigger her into meltdown, crying mode. She is extremely brilliant and kind, but her fear of how people will perceive her and her increasing level of pressure that she places on herself, worked together to make her an overly anxious little girl. Last year, even her teachers, both homeroom and gifted, struggled with how to reach her. Her therapist even recommended that she be medicated to help with her anxiety. Towards the end of the school year last year , her school started a running club. Though (she) loved running, she was fearful of participating. She ended up signing up, but it was because her younger sister would be with her. It ended up being a resounding success.

Fast forward to this year, and we received the flyer for Girls on the Run. Due to the success of running club last year, we asked her if she would want to join, emphasizing that her sister would not be with her as she was too young for the program. (she) said yes, we registered her and her grandparents took her shopping for running attire.

Yesterday, we had parent teacher conferences at her school, and her teacher got emotional talking about the major social strides (she) had made this semester alone, crediting a lot of it to her participation in Girls on the Run. I now have a daughter that has stood up in front of the class, has volunteered to help other classmates and has thrived in being so helpful during running days. I cannot say enough good things about the coaches this year, and the huge impact they have had on her. (she) is looking forward to the 5K, though she's sad about the program ending. I just wanted to say thank you for teaching my daughter that it's ok to be different and that there is nothing to fear with letting others see the real her.   - Mom of GOTR girl
