Mission

The mission of the George Pocock Rowing Foundation is to help young people access and experience the life-changing sport of rowing.

And it is our vision to build and support an inclusive rowing community that is accessible for all young people.

Description

The GPRF was created in 1984 by a community of leaders who were passionate about the sport of rowing & the benefits it could provide.

Since its inception, the GPRF has leveraged school and community partnerships to create an innovative network of youth program opportunities, improving access to rowing and empowering students to make healthier lifestyle choices.

The organization is now aligned with public school districts, parks, recreation departments, and city councils to facilitate robust youth rowing outreach efforts across the Pacific Northwest and the United States.

Each year, Erg Ed introduces rowing to thousands of students in physical education classes. Since 2010, more than 120,000 students have been introduced to the sport of rowing through Erg Ed, with close to 40,000 youth participating annually, the Pocock Foundation is partnered with dozens of boathouses and public school districts with one goal in mind: helping more kids find, start and stay rowing, regardless of circumstance. Simply put, we develop partnerships and raise funds so that any young person who wants to row on a team has the resources and support to make it happen.
