Gunn Memorial Library and Museum

Gunn Memorial Library & Museum inspires the community through literacy, cultural & educational programs, and the preservation of the Town's history.  With your support, we can continue to expand our services, providing invaluable opportunities for lifelong learning and personal growth.

Gunn Memorial Library & Museum must raise 70% of its budget through fundraising events each year. Your generous donations have an enormous impact on us and the community at large.

Your contribution will support our institution - the library and the museum - and help us continue to provide high-caliber services to the community including some exciting new initiatives.

Makerspace: Bring your ideas to life at the Library’s new creative community space!

Exhibit Spaces: Visit the Museum for a tour of the permanent exhibit: Washington Connecticut - An American Story. Then go upstairs to visit the rotating annual exhibit.

Museum Programs: The museum offers a wide variety of programs such, a nonfiction History Book Club, Cookbook Club, using historic recipes, Museum Lecture Series, and cemetery walking tours.

Collections Care: Our staff and volunteers continue to catalogue new items, including 3D objects, photographs, and documents. Many of the materials have been digitized and can be viewed on our online database.

Junior Library Programming: Story hours & programs provide educational entertainment and are a first step to promote life-long learning.

Library Programming and Outreach: Our team collaborates with local organizations and schools to bring our services to the community. We offer a wide range of programming for all ages with topics varying in theme - attend book discussions, a Monday Movie Matinee, author talks, or one of our many other programs!

Resources: We offer e-books, e-audiobooks, and now even offer streaming services with your library card. Learn a foreign language with our fun, interactive Mango platform. Our team is here to assist patrons with historical research and selecting their next read, as well as offering one on one technology assistance.

Thank you for considering this opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those in our community. Your generosity will have a lasting impact, leaving a legacy of learning and creativity for generations to come.
