My name is Carol B. I am a grateful alumna of Harmony. Before my admission to Harmony, my life was dominated by alcohol, cynicism, anxiety, and taking a big downward spiral. When my husband lovingly and painfully said he could no longer live like we were, he found help from a counselor who recommended Harmony. I was very scared but knew I couldn't continue living with alcohol and expect to live very long. After being at Harmony for two days, my husband was told by the insurance company that he would have to come to get me as they weren't going to cover any more treatment for me. I was in a panic as we couldn't pay on our own. One of the counselors took me to her office. She told me she would check to see if I could get some scholarship funds to stay longer. I became so frustrated and told her I would go home when he arrived. She told me to surrender and give it to God. Amazingly her phone rang about 30 seconds later. It was the scholarship office, and they said they would cover my stay for another week. I was in tears.
I stayed for three weeks with the insurance company deciding almost daily how long I could stay. I found a new way to live my life at Harmony. I found peace, serenity, and a spirituality that continues to grow.

This was almost two years ago. I will forever be grateful to Harmony, my husband, the staff, and the chance to be blessed with that scholarship. And I thank God. I now have a life I can be proud of, and my husband says he has his wife back. I am currently enrolled in training courses to become an addiction counselor and am a member of the Development Fund committee at Harmony. Now it is my turn to give back to Harmony.
