Homewood Children's Village

A nonprofit organization

To simultaneously improve the lives of Homewood's children and reweave the fabric of the community in which they live.

Full Service Community Schools (FSCS)
Our FSCS Site Directors work in each of the schools that serve Homewood's children. They build strong relationships with school staff and outside community partners to create a comprehensive community school. A Full Service Community School is both a place of learning and a set of partnerships between community organizations.
Partners and providers work together to provide holistic support to students through an integrated focus on academics, health and social services, youth and community development, and community engagement. Schools become a hub for the community, open beyond school hours to serve the entire community.

Promise Fulfillment (OPF)
Our Office of Promise Fulfillment promotes college readiness among young people to build a strong foundation for post secondary learning. We provide connections to a wide variety of out-of-school time opportunities that engage students through their interest areas, encouraging them to explore meaningful opportunities that will assist them with their future life goals. At the heart of our work is a drive to empower students as agents of community change and transformation. Through mentoring and powerful discourse we build relationships with young people that extend beyond school walls and support them as they become the next leaders of our world.

Child and Community Health (OCCH)
At the heart of a healthy community is a healthy child. The Office of Child and Community Health's (OCCH) focus on the well being of Homewood's boys and girls led to the development of our foundational Power Packs, a weekend nutrition assistance program which aims to get to the root of food insecurity. The OCCH is also the driver behind our community events which have included the annual summer 5K and Health Expo, winter coat drives, holiday and community dinners, workout clubs, and back-to-school block parties. Most expansively the OCCH works with community partners towards positive and sustainable community development. Using principles of the EcoDistricts framework, OCCH works to inform, advocate for, and build a thriving neighborhood-one with healthy natural, built, and social environments.

Research and Evaluation (ORE)
Our Research and Evaluation team tracks and analyzes the impacts of our core services, the effectiveness of our organizational infrastructure, and performance of our partnerships. The results of these analyses are looped back into program design and development, allowing for continual growth. The ORE team also utilizes their capacity to build a keen understanding of the complex conditions and barriers that our community faces. This knowledge is infused into our programs and serves as a foundation for advocacy towards systems-level changes. Additionally, the team aids in HCV development efforts and securing organizational funding. Finally, our research team acts as consultants to our peers, offering their valuable skill set to analyze programmatic data and support planning efforts. This ensures strong partnerships and strengthens the seamless support system created for our children and families.
