Hearts of Life Animal Rescue

Hearts of Life Animal Rescue is the only no kill rescue outreach in Hopkins County. We strive to reunite the lost, save/help the injured, sick, starved, neglected, dumped and homeless dogs and cats of Hopkins County. Education, understanding, spaying and neutering is the only way we will ever overcome overpopulation.

Hearts of Life Animal Rescue is the only no kill 501c3 rescue in Hopkins County. We are operated by volunteers and donations only. Our rescue facility houses 52 dogs at full capacity and unfortunately has a waiting list at all times. Our cats are housed in foster homes until they can be cycled through at Petsense or adoption events. We believe every animal deserves a chance and we give them one when no one else will. We rehabilitate those in need and find them a loving home when they are ready. Those that cannot be deemed adoptable due to terminal illness or anxiety will have their forever home with us at the rescue. Our volunteers work tirelessly to ensure the safety, happiness and health of our animals. We love each animal as our own. We celebrate our success stories, mourn those we lost and will forever be the voice to the voiceless.

Through donations and fundraising, we have been able to build a safe place to keep the dogs out of the weather, under shelter and on concrete. We have built multiple play yards so they may run and enjoy the outdoors. None of this would have been possible without donations, but we also need donations to keep us going. We still have many improvements to make, such as running electricity to barn 2, replacing worn fencing/kennels, replacing dog houses and completing the outer walls of the barns. We always have a need for donations for everyday operations as well which includes utilities, food, medicine, vet bills, cleaning supplies, etc.

Each animal is fully vetted prior to adoption which includes having all shots current, worming, spaying/neutering and rabies. Our adoption fee is $90.00 per animal. We offer a lifetime return policy so that our animals will never have to face the option of being surrendered to another animal shelter. We are committed to them for the rest of their life.

Old Timer's Story-
I truly didn't think Old Timer would make it through the night. It was July. He was dehydrated and so weak. He couldn't walk anymore and was blazing hot. That driveway in the shade was cool to him. It's almost like he knew we were going to help him so he just went limp.
Old Timer has since made a full recovery and remains with our shelter, a happy and healthy gentle giant. Before and after pictures of him can be seen in our slideshow. Thank you!
