Founded in 1933, Variety the Children’s Charity of St. Louis (Variety St. Louis) has been helping St. Louis-area children and teens with special needs for over 90 years. We empower Variety Kids, ages birth to 21, through access to vital medical equipment and therapy services as well as the opportunity to participate in innovative Camp and Performing Arts programs. 

Variety St. Louis is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit (EIN#43-6078016), and all funds raised stay right here in St. Louis to help Variety Kids redefine their abilities.

How We Empower Variety Kids

We provide access to critical programs and services to children and teens with disabilities, ages birth to their 21st birthday, living in the 15 Missouri and 15 Illinois counties surrounding St. Louis.

Medical Equipment for Kids with Disabilities 

Variety’s Durable Medical Equipment program provides funding for a wide range of vital tools to children with disabilities. These pieces of medically prescribed equipment can have a life-changing impact and are all designed to improve the child’s ability to access and engage with his or her environment through improved mobility, expression and more. Variety ensures that children who need this equipment receive it, regardless of their ability to pay.

Therapy for Kids with Disabilities 

Therapy is often critical for children to improve strength, endurance, and mobility, while also increasing his or her level of independence at home and school. Variety’s TherHappy Kids program offers access to both in-person and virtual physical, occupational, speech, aqua, or hippotherapy sessions, providing flexibility and consistent coverage to Variety Kids.

This wide range of therapies, both in-person and virtual, are made available through Variety’s trusted and approved therapists, each giving Variety Kids the opportunity to expand what they thought to be possible.

Overall, TherHappy Kids focuses on the “ability” rather than the “disability,” making it possible for each child to more fully participate in his or her world.

Making Friends and Having Fun

Variety’s Recreation programs give children with disabilities unique in-person and virtual opportunities to enjoy engaging activities while socializing with friends old and new.

From Adventure Camp to Social Groups, and more, these programs, which are open to Variety Kids living in the greater St. Louis region, help participants learn new skills, gain independence, build confidence, and more, by having fun.

Variety’s fully inclusive Performing Arts programs bring together kids and teens with and without disabilities, giving them the chance to shine. These free programs not only teach new skills such as singing, acting and dancing, but also foster friendships and build each child’s confidence.
