Heritage Multicultural Programs and Services

A nonprofit organization

Our concern---Childwelfare, War, diseases poverty, family crisis & disengagement, and illiteracy  are reaching unpresidented proportion especialy among ethnic minority and underserved populations. Culturally relevant support and mental services to specific populations are scarce to unabailable at criticl points.

HMYFP was formally incorporated in 2002 as a result of extensive community based volunteer work and at the conclusion of a research by the founder.  The results of that study support other studies that indicated there there was a gap, and an urgent need for a culturally relevant program to meet the unique needs of the rapidly growing, most minority ethnic populations in the Washington, DC metro area.

HMYFP was founded as a transitional support organization dedicated to improving the quality of life of the rapidly increasing ethnic minority, underserved and disadvantaged youths and families locally and globally. HMYFP is guided by it's vision that the world is fast becoming a very diversified global arena, and as such each child should be afforded the opportunity to reach his/her full potiental in anticipation of being a productive and meaningful global citizen.  Locally, HMYFP has since continously partner/colloborate with various agencies to offer culturally sensitive mental health, skills building, out of school enrichment programs, linguistic/translation, crisis, trainings and other life saving and life changing support to our communitie.  Internationally, we conduct out reach, implement and support programs/projects. HMYFP is currently developinga model orphanage and Youth empowerment center to save and change vulnerable and destitute lives.

HMYFP success is evident in individuals (such as our poster child & a host of youths, families and communities).

Our ongoing success is grounded on the principle of building asset in the participants by encouraging them to recognize and utilize the strength and values within them, their families, cultures and communities.  Our approach is hands on, holistic, culturally relevant and grounded on evidenced based best practice model.

We advocate support to enhance, support and promote self sufficiency and independence.

Be a change agent, support our efforts in making a difference......Remember, "It takes one to make a difference-----YOU." Thanks

At HMYFP, we believe that stronger communities begin with healthier, more empowered individuals—especially our youth.

Too often, traditional systems overlook the cultural and social nuances that shape how people experience the world. As a result, essential resources and services often remain inaccessible, ineffective, or irrelevant to the very communities that need them most. Our nonprofit exists to change that.

We work to bridge cultural gaps in health and education systems so that underserved and marginalized populations can access the tools and opportunities they need to thrive. Much of our work centers on youth and families, providing culturally considerate mental health resources, development programs, and community support rooted in real-world understanding.

Right now, we’re raising funds for a youth development program designed to help kids battle the growing mental health challenges they face today.

Kids are experiencing anxiety, depression, and emotional overwhelm at unprecedented levels. And while online resources have multiplied, the real problem isn’t just access—it’s attention. In a world full of distractions, kids are not being taught how to consistently care for their mental and emotional well-being in a structured and meaningful way.

That’s where HMYFP’s youth program steps in. We’re aiming to reach youth through a combination of mentorship and media: real-life guidance from caring adults, paired with an online platform they can access anytime. This hybrid model helps address one of the biggest gaps in youth mental health care—consistency—by meeting kids where they already are: on their devices.

Through hands-on activities, guided discussions, take-home tools, and a supportive digital space, we aim to help kids:

  • Build emotional resilience

  • Develop self-awareness and confidence

  • Strengthen focus, reflection, and personal growth

    We’re currently raising funds to:

    • Build and maintain the digital platform

    • Provide mentorship through in-person sessions

    • Cover critical program costs like staffing, supplies, and safe meeting spaces

This is not therapy—it’s early intervention and growth-oriented support. It’s about giving kids the inner tools to manage life’s stressors before they become crises.

For decades, we’ve helped youth navigate challenges through culturally anchored, community-driven programs. With your support, we can continue creating safe, affirming spaces where young people learn to take care of their minds and master the skills they need for life.
