Hi Chap Foundation

A nonprofit organization

The Hi Chap Foundation provides a safe sanctuary for rescue horses, both domestic and wild, who are in danger of being abandoned, neglected, abused, or sent to slaughter. In addition, the foundation is developing an equine-assisted therapy program for individuals in need of communication skills to learn trust and understanding as horses help mirror the way a person behaves with fellow human beings.

Hi Chap Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit horse rescue located on 80-100 acre ranch in Prescott, AZ which is providing a sanctuary for horses not suitable for adoption due to age, health or injury. It provides food, friendship (herd), and freedom to roam. The foundation grew from a ranch that was established as a retirement facility for horses once their work and performance careers were completed. It became increasingly apparent that in this disposable society, few people were willing to continue the financial commitment in a retired partner and thus, the Foundation was born. Currently, a cross-fencing is being constructed to allow about 50 acres of open range grazing on seasonal grasses in the spring through fall. This will help decrease feed costs and increase the quality of life for these horses.
One component is still needed for a sustained sanctuary:an equine-assisted therapy program with the help of an identified certified equine EFL instructor and several volunteers. The horses for the most part need the human interaction and must also become valuable members of the Yavapai County community by serving our most vulnerable members( who are our future and our freedom). By developing partners with foster organizations and veterans groups, the foundation is then able to broaden its service scope and appeal.
