Highland Area Partnership (HAP) is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit arts organization, dedicated to cultivating and connecting our community through music, food, and the arts. The main program of this organization is the annual Highland Jazz and Blues Festival. Each fall, HAP organizes the Highland Jazz and Blues Festival as a gift to the community to highlight the uniqueness that IS Highland. Through this festival we give the community access to the arts, including the genres of jazz and blues music, hands-on arts activities, and a variety of vendors. Over the years, the Highland Jazz and Blues Festival has brought an ever-growing number of people to Columbia Park in the heart of Shreveport and the Historic Highland Neighborhood to appreciate the talents of local, regional, and national musicians, artists, artisans/crafts persons, and culinary artists. The unique culture of the surrounding Highland neighborhood and the day of the festival itself has made the annual event loved in the community and beyond. The festival is free for the community to attend.
In addition to the festival, the Highland Area Partnership programs other events in the community. Highland Area Partnership also helps maintain the state designation of the Highland Cultural District. Highland Area Partnership strives to be a positive force in the growth of Shreveport's historic Highland neighborhood.
"The success of the Highland Jazz and Blues Festival is that it is more than a one-day music festival. It is a movement to restore community pride in this landmark park. It is a grassroots effort born out of love and respect for the city's history." -Scott Anderson
