Helen Martin Brooks Foundation

The mission of the Helen Martin Brooks Foundation is to ensure underserved communities have access to educational tools and support, a clean environment, and healthy food choices. Each program that we establish is catered to this mission.

The 3 focus areas for our foundation are Materials for Education, Environmental Restoration, and Healthy Food Choices. In addition to providing back-to-school supplies for students in classrooms every year and participating in the Adopt-a-Highway Program, we plan to implement 3 additional programs, to support our focus areas. These programs include Virtual Tutoring for grade school students, College Scholarships, and establishing partnerships with local farmers to provide free, healthy food boxes for individuals who are in need.

I am Sonya Benjamin and I along with my students want to thank the Helen Martin Brooks Foundation for their acts of kindness in contributing much needed school supplies during August 2023, to make sure that special needs students were able to have the materials they needed, to participate in and promote progress with their
educational experience this year.

Many times the students in my classroom have difficulty keeping track of their pencils, papers, notebooks and colorful markers. But this year students were able to have their own personalized pencil cases stocked with these supplies daily. This task helps to keep instruction time structured and meaningful.
We are so grateful and know that it would not have been possible, if not for the generosity and support of this great foundation. Again, we say thank you.
