Rotary Club of Half Moon Bay Foundation

Since 1971, the Rotary Club of Half Moon Bay has been dedicated to serving our community with the motto of "Service Above Self." We are a community of action that remains committed to providing support and care to our coastal community members for many years to come. Our Rotary principles are rooted in embracing Integrity, Diversity, and Service.

Over the past year, our organization has actively supported a range of environmental, educational, and healthcare-based organizations. We strive to promote growth and engagement throughout the community by providing kindness and support to all its members. Rotarians believe that good deeds, no matter how small, make a significant impact on the community. Some of the notable projects we have completed over the year include:

1.  Life Skills for high school students
2. Community Thanksgiving Dinner in conjunction with ALAS
3. Give scholarships to high school students for technical programs and community college 
4. "Adopted" eight families for Christmas in conjunction with Coastside Hope 
5. Flag planting on Memorial Day
6. Sending monthly necessities to 8 families in conjunction with Coastside Hope 
7. Breakfast for the needy at the Lutheran Church in conjunction with Abundant Grace 
8. Senior Gardening Projects
9. Fundraising for local emergencies
   1. Support for flood victims 
   2. Support for victims of shootings 
10. Little Library building, installation and maintenance in local neighborhoods 
11. Substitute drivers for Meals on Wheels
12. Relay for Life
13. Monthly Beach Cleanups 
14. And more!

Funding through Coastside Gives will enable us to continue supporting several impactful community projects. Our Rotary Club of HMB Foundation is the charitable arm that provides us with the opportunity to make a difference on the Coastside by supporting projects that address local community needs, focusing on scholarships and education, local organizational causes, and disaster relief. Helping people and communities is our overarching purpose, and we remain steadfast in our commitment to our guiding Rotary principles.

This collaboration enabled us to help low-income families in additional ways during one of the most difficult times for our Coastside Community. The families enrolled in the Coastside Hope Special Delivery program were the most affected by the negative financial effects of the pandemic. Receiving a Special Delivery meant having the ability to divert money to pay rent or other essential expenses.
