Friends of the Holbrook Animal Shelter

Friends of the Holbrook Animal Shelter is a 501c3 nonprofit organization, serving the community of Holbrook, Arizona. Our mission is to help the homeless animals of Holbrook, located at Holbrook Animal Care & Control by sending them to rescues, increasing adoption rates, decreasing euthanasia rates, and educating the community on animal issues. We also strive to help the health of the animals of Holbrook by seeking grants & donations for low cost spay & neuter clinics, & vaccination clinics.

Founded in 2014, the woman-led non-profit board helped turn around the live outcome rate at the Holbrook Animal Shelter. Before Rachel & Kimmy got involved, over 90% of the animals who came to the animal control facility passed away from being sick or being put down due to aggressive behavior and/or overpopulation. After Rachel, Kimmy, Sarah, and Dani officially formed their non-profit group in 2015, more than 90% of the animals coming to the Holbrook Animal Shelter were saved: returned to their owners, adopted, rescued/transferred to other humane shelters. It took a lot of work and coordination, but they turned it around.

Because of this recent no-kill status, the shelter is actually receiving MORE animals than ever. More volunteers and community members are bringing us difficult cases or pets who need TLC. To keep up with the higher intake volume and continuous problem of overpopulation, the Friends turns its strategic mission to improving the condition of the shelter facility and to Spay/Neuter programs. We've been incredibly successful so far on securing grant funds both for Feral Cat and Community Pet Spay/Neuter voucher programs. But we haven't had much success in getting donors to help us improve our shelter facilities. Our 2021 strategic focus for fundraising is for our play yards to get fenced, properly furnished and shaded. Can you help us?
