Helping Orphaned Mutts Succeed, Inc.

A nonprofit organization

Helping Orphaned Mutts Succeed, Inc. (HOMS) is a 501(c)(3) tax exempt Arizona non-profit corporation established in November 2018. Our mission is to serve primarily as a foundation (not a rescue group) to help raise funds for already-established pet shelters and community constituents, especially in underserved areas. We focus on raising funds for training and medical support. We also recruit for foster homes to benefit both shelter foster programs and community dog rescue groups.

We currently focus on the Pinal Animal Care and Control animal shelter in Casa Grande. The shelter strives to save as many animal as it can as a no-kill shelter. They have several dogs (8 at last count) in the shelter for approximately one year now. HOMS helps to fund behavioral evaluations that helps to provide adopters the information they need to find a good match for their household. We have facilitated evaluations for almost 100 dogs since our inception.

Additionally, the shelter does not presently have a veterinarian on staff, so this is in part where HOMS steps in to help. We have raised money for the Pinal shelter pets so that they can be taken to community vets for necessary medical care and then either return to the shelter in better health awaiting their forever home or go into a foster home through the shelter's foster program.

The Board of Directors have years of dog rescue fostering and fundraising experience. We do this all-volunteer work while maintaining full-time jobs. The more funds we raise, the more dogs we can help. There is so much need, and we can't do what we do without the financial support of generous donors like you. Thank you.

Testimonials

This is how my story begins with HOMS. One night I was on social media and a photo came up of an older Boxer in need! Instead of moving on I clicked to see the status. Poor skinny girl, looked like she was on her last leg. Now I had fostered in the past, but a busy life with work and my family really put a halt on it. The joy I got from fostering has always fed my soul. I saw a lot of people commenting but no one stating they had room for this Boxer girl. I already have 3 pups, how could I possibly have room for one more. I have in and said I would take her. I explained that I was not looking for another dog, praying a rescue group would step in and allow me to foster under their New Hope Rescue. HOMS reached out to their connections working behind the scenes! Finally Underdog Rescue, Gwen stepped saying she would assist! So the next day I drove from Phoenix to Pinal Animal Control! Brought her home and she slept for almost 3 days. Then another rescue Freedom Brothers Rescue offered to assist with medical costs! They always say that it takes a village to raise a child! Well if anyone asks it takes a village and a wonderful group of people to come together to save a poor pup in need! If it wasn't for Mary with HOMS taking the time to post the pup in need, Underdog Rescue stepping in and Freedom Brothers stepping up, I am sure this sweet girl may not be with us today! She's doing well gaining weight! This is exactly the type of organization that needs to be there to bridge that gap between potential fosters and rescue groups to help those pups! Get a new start! One of my favorite sayings is be part of the solution not part of the problem! Thanks Mary and HOMS!
