HOUSE OF GRACE, ARVAD MINISTRIES

House of Grace NWLA is a locally owned ministry that provides a Christ-centered home to young women ages 18-24 who are facing homelessness due to having aged out of foster care, trauma, or poverty, providing necessary life skills, resources, and relationships.  These skills, resources, and relationships assist these young women who have faced the most difficult life circumstances to change their legacy for future generations. The resources provided include shelter, access to mental and physical health resources, mentoring programs, onsite coaching, life skills training, and higher education support. We purchased 5.5 acres of land with an existing home in Bossier Parish, LA in February of 2022. In May of 2022, we began renovating the existing home on the property, opening our doors in March of 2023.  Thanks to a very generous donor we were also able to add 1500 square feet to the home that was completed in February of 2024 allowing us to serve up to 6 young women along with on-site life skills training.  All funds raised from Give for Good will continue to allow us to provide the necessary resources to serve the young women in our care to the best of our ability.

The purchase of the property and home and all necessary renovations have been made possible by the AMAZING communities of Bossier, Caddo & Webster Parishes!  We are so grateful for all of the support we have received and ask that you continue to partner with us in this important work of providing a safe place to learn and grow for these young women!  We currently serve 4 young women through mentoring, transportation, life skills, employment, and higher education support.  According to one resident "House of Grace is teaching me that even when I don't want to do something or when I don't feel motivated, that I can push forward and that my efforts sustain me for long term purposes and that should be my CORE motivation."  Teaching these women to be self-motivated, dream big, and push towards those dreams gives them HOPE for their future!

Program goals are to provide residents with specific life skills, a mentoring program, healthcare resources for both physical and mental health, access to equine therapy, and healthy experiences that outweigh the trauma and unhealthy experiences that they have faced in their lifetime.  We also offer an onsite director, program coach, and resident advisors staffed nightly from 6 PM until 7 AM providing a support system to the young women we serve around the clock. The current board of directors seats a professional doctor, marketing advisor, nurse, financial risk assessment advisor, CPA accountant, educator and builder. Volunteers dedicated to the project include professional counselors, non-profit advisors, teachers, board of education representatives, state representatives, and pastors .  Every young woman that is served is allowed to thrive in this home, in this community, and in their life to change their legacy for future generations!
