Who We Are

Educating children in grades K-8, the school is tuition-free and annually admits students via a public lottery. We’re proud to serve 383 students on our East Mountain campus in Scranton. Our Unique Approach

We embrace the educational philosophy of Dr. Howard Gardner, Professor Emeritus, Harvard University Graduate School of Education, and a Scranton native. Experiential learning is rooted in Gardner's theory of nine intelligences: kinesthetic, linguistic, mathematical/logical, spatial, musical, interpersonal, intrapersonal, naturalistic, and existential. Each type of intelligence serves as a gateway for students to experience and understand their external world. To learn more about our mission, click here.

Help Us Build Our Emerging Performing Arts Program!

As HGMICS grows and strives to offer the best experiences for our students, so does our need for program funding. Proceeds raised from this year's NEPA Gives Campaign will directly support our school's emerging Performing Arts program, which is dedicated to enriching student experiences in both performance and visual arts. This growing program focuses on nurturing creativity, self-expression, and artistic skills by providing students with meaningful opportunities to explore music, theater, dance, and visual design. With your support, the school aims to cultivate a vibrant arts community where students can develop confidence, collaborate with peers, and shine through artistic performance and creation.
