Every day, we open our doors to abandoned, neglected, and surrendered animals. Your support ensures that the DRHS can continue its vital work of rescuing, caring for, and finding loving homes for animals like Bingo, Peanut, Leyloni, and Glize.

But we cannot do it alone. We rely on the generosity of animal lovers like you to keep our doors open and our tails wagging. Your support directly impacts the lives of the animals in our care, providing them with food, shelter, medical treatment, and love until they find their forever homes. Here's how your donation can make a difference:

$5,000: Provides spay or neuter surgery for 120 animals, helping to control the pet population and prevent overpopulation concerns.

$2,500: Provides a year of enrichment supplies for countless animals, ensuring they have toys, puzzles, and activities to keep them mentally stimulated and happy

$1,000: Provides 200 animals with a rabies vaccination, helping to protect them from this deadly virus and keeping both animals and the community safe.

$500: Provides healing interventions that eliminate painful conditions for an animal in need, ensuring they receive the medical treatment and attention necessary to live a pain-free life.

$100: Enriches daily life for countless animals with treats, toys, and activities, bringing joy and comfort to their time at the shelter.

$50: Grants spay surgery for one cat, helping to control the pet population and prevent unwanted litters.

Whether you can give a little or a lot, every donation makes a difference in improving the lives of these furry friends. Thank you for supporting the DRHS on Great Give Day!

"Stevie (who was known as Bay Leaf) wanted to give you an update on how his life has been going since he was taken tohis forever home. He now is a little brother that has totally fallen in love with his big brother, Freddie and they are having a blast together. His humans absolutely love him and can’t believe how his transition to his new home was so easy. Thank you for taking such good care of him until his forever family found him." -Lisa A.

"We adopted Sully (dog) roughly 12 years ago.  He’s 15 now and I'm still so thankful he is a part of our family. We recently adopted a cat named Ash (FKA Joey).  Ash is playful and loves to cuddle, even with the dogs.

In his younger years, Sully enjoyed fishing, camping and car rides. Now that he’s slowing down, he enjoys sleeping and cuddling on the couch.  Ash can usually be found cuddling with one of the dogs or playing with whatever toy he can find. Two very successful adoptions. I can’t imagine my life without them." - Rachel B.

"After a heartbreaking year of saying goodbye to two furry members of our family, our hearts were primed to welcome a new addition. And then Mala came into our lives! The Dubuque Regional Humane Society helped us meet Mala, who was recovering from being hit by a car and had been rescued. We fell instantly in love with her and her gentle spirit and have been smitten ever since! Mala is the best cuddler ever and it is the one thing she can’t get enough of…and neither can we! We are so grateful to the Dubuque Regional Humane Society for bringing sweet Mala into our lives! Thank you!" - Joe, Jill, and Sam K.

Operating as a 501(c)3 non-profit, open admission, no-kill shelter the DRHS provides critical medical and behavioral interventions and compassionate care for animals that are lost, abandoned, surrendered by owners, or rescued from neglect.
