Testimonials

*During Summer 2020, Hunger No More Midlands/Lexington Community Garden partnered with The Ray Tanner Foundation and Farmers Helping Families to deliver over forty-five individually packed 25lb boxes of fresh produce provided by Senn Brothers to those in our community affected by the pandemic for 14 weeks. We also partnered with Convoy of Hope through Reconciliation Ministries to deliver forty to fifty 45lbs boxes of fresh produce, dairy and procured meats to needy community members weekly, in addition to the produce grown in Lexington Community Garden and occasionally Rawl Farms.

In 2021, the Farmers Helping Family program was abolished, but we continued to be blessed with volunteers to assist in our garden, as well as other Farmers who would allow us to come pick their overflow after their migrant workers. We continue to learn what produce is popular amongst our neighbors, as well as has a longer shelf life and is easy to harvest and prepare a variety of meals. The days we deliver food or neighbors come pick it up are aways the most rewarding.

Our chief goal is growing fresh healthy produce and then seeing that it is put in our partner agencies' hands that are equipped with the resources to know our most vulnerable neighbors' needs. We have been fortunate to be supported in our distribution and volunteer efforts by Reconciliation Ministries, Lexington Sheriff's Department's Communication Action Team, Turner AME Church in West Columbia, Mt Horeb Church Mission Ministries, Mission Lexington, Serve & Connect, Hunger No More, God's Helping Hands and U-Turn for Christ to name a few. As farming and gardening is continuous hard work, we are grateful to engage volunteer organizations in our community.
