Teammates of Beatrice

A nonprofit organization

The mission of the Teammates Mentoring Program is to positively impact the world by inspiring students to reach their full potential through mentoring.

Teammates Mentoring Program started in 1991 by Dr. Tom and Nancy Osborne. It was formalized as a statewide program in 1998 and has grown to serve more than 190 school districts across 5 states including Nebraska, Iowa, Kansas, South Dakota , and Wyoming.

Teammates serves all students in grades 3-12 that want an extra caring adult to meet with them at school once a week. Mentors are screened and trained before they are matched with students. The matches are based on shared interests and hobbies. During the 30-45 minute meeting they might play a game, shoot hoops, talk or whatever the student is interested in doing.

The Teammates Mentoring program has had a profound impact on thousands of students since 1991. This unique one-to-one, school-based program was founded as a way to help students stay in school, improve scholastic performance, and acquire life skills. With Teammates, students have someone in their corner to serve as a positive role model and caring adult friend. We believe students don't need a mentor, they deserve a mentor.

Data shows 59% of students improve academically, 86% have fewer disciplinary referrals and 95% graduate from high school.
