Japanese Garden Foundation

A nonprofit organization

To build, develop, and maintain the Japanese Garden in City Park. Named in honor of New Orleans author Lafcadio Hearn (Koizumi Yakumo in Japanese) the garden provides an authentic and beautiful example of a Japanese garden. In addition to exquisite plantings of bamboo, azalea, and black pine, the garden also features a small tea house and three large stone lanterns, gifts from New Orleans' sister city Matsue, Japan.

We are currently making some significant improvements and upgrades to the existing garden space. In the near future we will begin planning for a major expansion.
