Jewish Family Service of San Antonio

A nonprofit organization

49.5% of children or youth meet the criteria for a mental health disorder.

The mental health crisis is particularly acute for the children of San Antonio where approximately 130,000 children ages 6 to 17 have mental health and substance use disorders, according to the Meadows Mental Health Policy Institute’s Bexar County Children and Youth Rapid Behavioral Health Assessment (February 2019).  Approximately 105,000 children and youth have mild to moderate behavioral health needs and about 25,000 have severe needs. Approximately 10,000 children ages 12 to 17, have a substance use disorder. In addition, MMHPI estimates that 50,000 children and youth, ages 0 to 17, have experienced three or more adverse childhood experiences (ACEs), increasing their risk for a range of negative health conditions.

At JFS, we are on a mission to ensure that every child has access to the mental health services they need and we need YOU to help us reduce our waitlist and connect a child with a therapist as soon as possible. We won’t turn anybody away because they can’t afford mental healthcare and you can  help us cover the cost of one of our  a session by donating $68 today.
