Joseph Thomas Foundation

A nonprofit organization

The Joseph Thomas Foundation assist medically fragile children within our service area in the purchase of medical equipment and services when Medicaid and other sources are unable to assist.

Joseph Thomas Foundation (JTF) offers two programs that serve medically fragile and special needs children and individuals needing medical equipment. The Medical Supply Closet Program gifts gently used medical equipment and new supplies to anyone, of any age, who requests them. The Financial Assistance Program provides financial assistance when other resources are unavailable to families raising medically fragile and special needs children. We do not want a child or family to go without medical equipment, supplies, or services. Through our Medical Supply Closet Program and our Grant Program we served over 3200 families! In 2024 our Medical Supply Closets gifted over $1.2 million worth of equipment and supplies. Since the establishment of JTF we been able to give $399,182 in direct financial assistance to special needs and medically fragile children.

Testimonials

JTF responded to an urgent request from a rural family caring for a child with cerebral palsy and developmental delays. He is wheelchair-bound and dependent on caretakers for all transitions, especially in and out of vehicles. For years, aides assisted with these needs, but due to the risks of COVID-19, having home aides heightens risk to the child's health. JTF immediately purchased an automotive transfer seat. Because of JTF's relationship with the family's doctor, they were referred to our application when they had no other options. This hydraulic actuated seat moves in and out of the vehicle, allowing easy transfer from wheelchair to seat before being raised to vehicle seating position.
