The Junior Philharmonic Society of New Orleans

A nonprofit organization

Our mission is to give talented, young student instrumentalists, vocalists and dancers an opportunity to perform in a recital held in a professional setting, and to teach music appreciation to children attending the programs. Performers are chosen by audition, and all performances are free and open to the public. The Junior Philharmonic Society of New Orleans was incorporated as a non-profit, cultural organization in the State of Louisiana in 1948 by Katherine Nolan Kammer.

We give talented Young student instrumentalists, vocalists and dancers and opportunity to perform for the public in a professional setting in the beautiful Dixon Hall Auditorium at Tulane University. The concerts are open to the public and we have a reception following the concert so the audience can acknowledge and congratulate the performers

It is a wonderful opportunity for families to attend and experience the arts for free.

We also give annual special monetary awards to outstanding performers! This monetary award aims to help the student continue their studies in the arts. We also offer a scholarship for students pursing the arts in undergraduate and graduate studies.

Testimonials

Emily Treigle, Scholarship Award 2015
Participating in the Junior Philharmonic Competition was so a very rewarding and invaluable experience. I always knew that I would one day like to join the Junior Philharmonic family because my own personal family had a strong bond to the program. My grandfather, Norman Treigle, was a winner. My mother, Phyllis Treigle, was a winner.
Ellis Marsalis - Jazz Pianist. Father of Branford and Delfayeo who both played on Jr. Philharmonic Concerts and won awards.
Phyllis Treigle- The Junior Philharmonic is a special organization that gives young talented students the opportunity to audition and to perform, and provides needed experience to young performers.
